I’ve been thinking about this...who is the real mega-star in rock now? If it’s based on number one hits...surely that would be Shinedown...but still some consider this to be an up and coming band. If that is up and coming, what does it take to be a mega-star? Nickelback sells out the big arenas and has a big deal with Live Nation...but...still mega-star? Not too sure about that. I’d love to get your thoughts at twitter.com/lalloyd or facebook.com/lalloyd or an email to lalloyd1@rock30.com. In the meantime, I’ll enjoy this week’s number one song on the LA Lloyd Rock Countdown from Shinedown “Bully.”

~LA Lloyd~

Not my words, but the lyrics from Foxy Shazam’s I Like it. It took me a couple of listens to get this band. But after seeing them live at SXSW, I totally love this throwback reflective of bands ranging from Queen to Meat Loaf. Come getcha some as they co-host the LA Lloyd Rock Countdown March 31-April 1.

~LA Lloyd~

So I got to see some established bands (Candlebox) and then I got to see some new bands (Dead Sara) and then there was the global thing like Japanese Metal Band “Electric Eel Shock” (pictured to the right). Yes the drummer is only wearing a sock...It was at a true dive where I actually got scared because we were on the second floor and I could feel the entire structure moving with the crowd. Thank goodness we all survived. Great fun and glad it’s history.

~LA Lloyd~
